I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article. I am hoping the same best work from you in the future as well. Hello, thanks for the tutorial Great Job. Of this topic is difficult to find information I'm doing the same project with a playstation 4 slim. I only need to add the external power switch and the cable to connect the ATX psu with auto boot. I read your tutorial but I do not understand how to make the cable to connect the power supply with the resistor and the transistor.
You need to build an adaptor cable. The adaptor cable wires can be cut from an old preferably faulty PC power supply. If you don't have a faulty power supply ask at your local PC repair shop you should be able to get them for free.
The PS4 to adaptor cable connection you will either have to solder directly to the motherboard not recommended or make the adaptor cable up with PS4 cables soldered on their ends my preferred method. To get the 2 pin main power connector try yo get an old faulty PS4 supply then desolder the connector.
If you can't find or acquire the main 2 pin power connector you can use cable lugs that fit snugly onto the PS4 power prongs. I did a schematic, can you see if this is correct before I make the cable? By the look of it you have to reverse the two wires on the outside transistor legs.
Thank you very much for your attention, these two comments were made by me but I do not know why it appears as Unknown.
Thank you, you observed my schematic before I made the adapter. Now with your tips I can already make the adapter safely. In my project I am using an adapter already made for atx source where I can connect everything, buttom connect, disconnect, leds I just do not use it for the 12v connection because I use 3 different wires of rails. Many thanks Finalman: D helped a lot. When I'm ready, I'll post and say I had your help.
Looks sweet. Sorry it took so long to reply as I haven't been back here in a about a month. Picking a quality power supply can mean the difference between a well running system and one that suffers from crashes and boot failures.
"ps4 power supply"
Worse yet, cheap generic models can literally explode into flames, taking the rest of your computer with it. Bro thank you, idk if you still pay attention to this. But mad props, I used this to test it it was my pros power supply that was bad, and the power supply was indeed bad, followed yoru tutorial didn't have resistors so had to get creative, and boom she power up without an issue, thank man. Glad to chat your blog, I seem to be forward to more reliable articlesand I think we all wish to thank so many good articles, blog to share with us.
Can I sell the already connected ps4 pro24pin line? I hope you can sell it to me. Email a gmail. Hi, I followed this guide but I had a problem wherein my ps4 will not turn on at all. I used a 10k resistor and transistor as you showed but there is nothing. The light on the atx psu comes on but the fan doesn't spin up so I'm thinking its something to do with the turning on aspect.
Anyone have a similar problem? I have since put my ps4 pro standard power supply in and it works ok so I haven't tried anything lol.The serial number and model number of PS4 you can found on the gaming system, as well as on the box.
At the end of the page, there is a video instruction on how to assemble the PS4 after disassembly. To disassemble the PS4 you will need two types of screwdrivers :. In this step-by-step instruction, we will disassemble the ps4 for cleaning and replacing the thermal paste, also you can replace any components, for example, how to remove hard drive, power supply or fan.
If during the disassembly process it is not clear how to perform step, you can see the step-by-step video instruction below. On the backside of the PS4, where the connection ports are located, remove stickers, and below them screws that we need to unscrew. On the backside of cover, you can see dust. Use a brush or napkin for cleaning the case from dust. First, unscrew three screws T8 Torx. Then unscrew two screws using PH0 screwdriver. Disconnect four-wire connector from the power supply.
The connector is fixed quite tightly, and if you cannot get it as easily, to disconnect the cable use tweezers. Next, using a plastic toolpull up on the right side, then on the left side. The right side of the power supply will be harder to pull up. If there is a lot of dust inside the power supply, it is better to remove this dust.
To do this, unscrew the two screws on the power supply and open it for cleaning. Disconnect the blue-ray drive cable from the PS4 motherboard.
To do this, press the tweezers onto the iron plate and pull the cable to the side. Next, unplug the optical drive power connector by lifting it up. In addition, disconnect the Wi-Fi antenna from the motherboard. Grab underneath of the top cover near the power button. The PlayStation 4 technical specifications describe the various components of the PlayStation 4 PS4 home video game console.
Multiple versions of this console have been released since the initial launch of the PS4. Subsequent versions include changes to the technical specifications of the console. Changes to the design included a matte black HDD cover replacing the original gloss black version.
While the number of logical processor cores 8 remained the same, CPU clock speed was increased from 1. Improvements in GPU bit variable float calculations derived from the newer AMD Vega architecture result in the PS4 Pro having a theoretical half precision floating point performance of 8.PS4 Turns On Then Off Troubleshooting - How to Fix
The PS4 Pro is able to use this increase in memory to swap out non-gaming applications that run in the background, like Netflix and Spotify. GDDR5 memory speed was increased from 5. Some elements added to the design were derived from AMD's newer Polaris and newer architectures; such new features of the processor included a HEVC video codec supporting up to 4k resolution.
The rated power of the original PS4 Pro was W. A limited translucent-case version of the PS4 Pro was released in Augustwhich included minor hardware updates. This new system, model number CUH, besides offering a larger hard drive, used a quieter fan that helped to reduce the noise levels. It also drew power at a consistent rate compared to the CUH, though became slightly hotter than the launch system. A second minor hardware refresh, with model number CUH, was first released in bundles with Red Dead Redemption 2 in November The newer version, otherwise functionally equivalent to the CUH, has a different power connector, and uses a quieter fan, which, according to Digital Foundrymade a "night and day" difference in the noise level, similar to the improvements in the CUH It further draws power consistently at W, whereas the while rated at W would have brief spikes up to W.
However, the newer console fan runs slightly slower and became slightly hotter than the model to gain this improvement. Though not much is publicly known of the PS4's audio capabilities, the console also contains a dedicated hardware audio module, which can support in-game chat with minimal external resources as well as "a very large number" of MP3 streams for use in in-game audio.
The main APU release had a die size of 19 by That produces a theoretical peak performance of The rest of the microchip consists of the on- die memory controllerwhich is shared by the CPU and the GPU and some additional logic concerned with memory access.
This means the system memory is not partitioned, so that a portion of it is exclusively available to the GPU, but unified, hence enabling hardware zero-copy. Ultra HD Blu-ray for 4K resolution playback is not supported, due to cost.
The console does however support photos and videos at 4K resolution. The read-only optical drive also reads DVDs. It does not read CDs. The console includes a 2. System Software 4. The PlayStation 4 features An auxiliary port is also included for connection to the PlayStation Cameraa motion detection digital camera device.
The PS4 cooling system uses a single centrifugal fan, which draws air in from both sides of the console, split into flows above and below the main PCB, before entering the fan from top and bottom; the fan exhaust then cools the main APU via a heat pipe -connected heatsink, with the exhaust passing over the main power supply before being emitted from the rear of the console. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. If too much heat builds up, your PS4 may become unstable, suddenly shut down, or even suffer component damage.
In fact, your PS4 contains a lot of parts, almost all of which create heat when your console is on. Some parts, like the CPU and graphics card, can get so hot you could cook on them. So, keeping your PS4 running within safe temperatures is important, especially as the temperature rises outside. Needless to say, keeping your PS4 cool should be a top priority. There are a couple of basic reasons your PS4 can overheat.
The first is when misbehaving or damaged components generate more heat than they should. PS4 components generate a fair bit of heat during normal use. Air flow is the cooling system that PS4 adopts to dissipate this heat. All the PS4 components rely on the case being able to draw in cooler air from the outside and expel hot air that builds up in the case.
How the main airflow works in the PS4 really depends on its design that varies according to its model. As for PS4 Pro, the heat sink is bigger and the exhaust fan is designed to deliver better airflow over all the interior components. Heat mitigation is a huge aspect to any high-powered device, especially a console with a beefy APU; too much heat can leave the sleek trapezoidal box a smoldering mess. Sony had to design a viable cooling solution to keep its console at a stable rate—especially with the inclusion of an internal power source.
As for specifics on the airflowthe design for the airflow inside the PS4 console was taken from the N version, while the G version contributed to how the power supply, cooling fan, and heat sink can be placed. Despite all this, the console still heats up quite a lot with usage still under the degree Celsius point, though.
Thermal imaging shows how hot the core becomes. This is also the place where the APU and the system memory have been placed. A sure sign that your PS4 is overheating is when the cooling fan is always running at maximum speed.
When the PS4 is overheating, the fan usually blows harder for a longer time in an effort to increase airflow and lower the temperature. We didn't open it for a few days after getting it, but when I did open it, it looked like it had been through YEARS of use and imporoper cleaning. I would be very gratefull. And thanks in advance. The photos aren't mine, but same or even worse case, cause I can't see those little copper lines It's on the next post:.
Looking at the board I notice this Those holes go throught the mobo to the other side As far as I know, pinout 2 is ground, so I can solder right where it is, but what about 1, 3 and 4?

If you see the pic you attached, you can see dots and those are most likely test points you can solder a jumper wire to. If you have a multitester, you can start checking for voltages. As for the other two, I'll try to look up what the other points should measure.

If I am realistic though it prolly was the heat of summer or maybe an electric surge because the damn thing stopped working. From doing research it seems it was the power supply — a common problem in PS4 consoles apparently — so I sent it to Sony Japan thinking they would fix it right?
So I went about doing the research to see how I could fix it myself. So what do you do if your PS4 starts acting up like mine?
